THE ONLY CONSTANT...

...IS CHANGE

True to this motto, the next years were once again characterized by changes in the team, in our programmes, in the technical infrastructure etc. - and then there was a move too...

On 6th September 2022 the "Pluggin' Baby Radio Show" started with our new English presenter Emma Scott. The show is on the air on every Tuesday from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

But there were also bad news in 2022: Agatha Rabiata left the station; furthermore we had to abandon the proven Studio North location, and so we aired the last "Radiorandale" on 3rd December 2022 live from this studio. On the following day Dom van Hool and Mark Andersen disassembled the equipment. A few weeks later Dom van Hool left Radio Sylvia.

The "Radiorandale" ran without presenters from January to March 2023 but on 1st April 2023 we introduced a new programme schedule: The "Blackout" with Mark Andersen was shifted to the 1st Saturday of the month, and the "Pluggin' Baby Radio Show" with Emma Scott gained an additional time slot. So the programme schedule looked as follows: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. "Blackout", 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. the "Pluggin' Baby Radio Show", 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. new music and 11 p.m. to midnight music from Germany.

On 12th May 2023 we moved our 192 kbit/s stream to a data centre in Helsinki that is powered by renewable energy. Since then our streaming servers as well as the playout and production computers run exclusively on solar and wind energy.

The "Radiorandale" programme schedule was changed once again on 1st July 2023: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. "Blackout", 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. new music, 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. music from Germany and 10 p.m. to midnight the "Pluggin' Baby Radio Show". The shortwave airtime remained unchanged.

A few months later we were happy to welcome another new presenter on Radio Sylvia: On 17th November 2023 pMad from Ireland presented the first "Best of Irish Indie" Show. Since then this show is on the air on every Friday from 6 p.m. to 7.30 p.m.

In the course of 2024 we carried out test transmissions via the Mixcloud platform. However, because of continuous stream cut-offs and general lack of technical reliability, we left Mixcloud in November 2024 and ceased our transmissions via this platform.

And we made further technical changes: On 18th December 2024 we moved our playout system to a server in a data centre in order to make us independent of our local internet provider and increase the reliability. This system is now handled via remote control from our headquarters (or from any other location) and allows both pre-produced and live broadcasts. In case there is an outage in the data centre, an additional local playout system can take over the broadcast seamlessly.

In April 2025 we began a long-planned move of the Radio Sylvia headquarters to a new location in Hamburg. We managed to keep the station going during that time, and Radio Sylvia stayed on the air without any interruptions. However, it was not possible to produce the May "Blackout" because the studio had to be rebuilt first. On 7th June 2025 the show returned.

Due to the move, we also changed our P.O. Box address, which now is: Radio Sylvia, P.O. Box 65 22 88, D-22373 Hamburg.
